Yes, times are still challenging. There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s still a very long tunnel, and it’s going to take a while to get back to normal, whatever that even looks like. I barely remember! Do you? But even with everything as uncertain as it is, one thing remains the same: we all want to look and feel fabulous!
One thing we can all do to keep looking fabulous and feeling confident is…(insert drum roll here) get our products from small beauty businesses! I know the economy is rough right now, and lots of people are feeling the crunch, but if you’re in a position to help out these amazing businesses, LET’S DO THIS!
Small businesses need our help now more than ever.
That’s why we’re spotlighting a few companies for #supportsmallbeauty so everyone knows how amaze-balls these companies and brands are. If you missed our first spotlight on The Makeup Light, or the next on Royal & Langnickel check them out!
The next of our Support Small Beauty spotlights is Senna Cosmetics. Let me give you the low-down on Senna. This incredible small company is the baby of Eugenia Weston, born in 1976, and it’s blossomed into a hugely successful biz—still family-owned and operated with that small-biz mindset.
A little background on Eugenia, whom I adore! In 1976, she launched Senna Cosmetiques, the first-ever pro studio makeup for everyday women. The following year (I love this one!!), she became the first licensed cosmetician in the state of California—I mean, how cool is that??
She opened the first-of-its-kind Senna Makeup & Brow Studio in Tarzana, California, in 1981, attracting celebs, pro artists, and others who wanted in on this new brow-shaping technique. She used her brow obsession to create the groundbreaking Form-A-Brow® Kit with stencils in 1992. Eugenia’s been nominated for an Emmy and is “The Divine” Bette Midler’s go-to makeup artist. I literally could go on and on and on.
Senna Stays True to Its Roots
Senna is truly one of those feel-good, start-from-scratch businesses that stayed true to its roots even when it became really, really successful. That’s because Eugenia is an absolutely incredible makeup artist who is dedicated to creating equally incredible products that work beautifully for professionals as well as makeup enthusiasts.
One of those products, which we’re super-proud to be working with, is Senna’s Slipcover Foundation…one that I’ve personally used and absolutely love. It works wonders on any type of skin and is formulated to blend over skin as a cream and then transform into a semi-matte powder finish that won’t cake, settle into wrinkles, look dry, or require frequent touch-ups. This foundation has been a staple for pros working in TV production, as it delivers a flawless photo finish in any lighting—but it’s perfect for anyone to use.
There are tons of reasons why Senna Cosmetics is such a special business. I think it starts with Eugenia, who believes that “makeup creates an illusion that expresses who we are without words.” I couldn’t have said it better myself! She personally designs exclusive and unique colors, products, and groundbreaking tools to “empower you to master makeup on your own terms.” And not only is she personally involved in the design of her products, but her foundations are still poured by hand, on-site. I mean, doesn’t that just personify small biz?
Senna Cosmetics is a Small Beauty Business Gem
With Senna, you get the best of ALL worlds when it comes to beauty. You’re supporting small biz, you’re getting absolutely killer products personally designed by a total legend in the industry, and you’re going to look and feel 100% gorgeous.
